ABSTRACT: The benefits of early childhood education in promoting sustainable fisheries aim to examine how education can contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable resource management from a young age. This study investigates how early childhood education programs promote sustainable fisheries. The objectives are to (1) assess improvements in children's knowledge of fisheries conservation practices, (2) evaluate the integration of sustainable fisheries activities in early childhood education curricula, and (3) examine changes in community attitudes towards fisheries sustainability. A survey design is employed to gather comprehensive data on educational impacts on sustainable fisheries promotion. A purposive sample of 110 children aged 4-6 years, from fishing communities in Delta State, ensures relevant experiences. The case study focuses on an early childhood education center known for its environmental education initiatives. Findings revealed significant improvements in children's knowledge of fisheries conservation practices, effectiveness of sustainable fisheries activities, and positive changes in community attitudes towards fisheries sustainability. Recommendations include integrating sustainable fisheries education into early childhood curricula and collaborating with fisheries management authorities and local communities to promote responsible fishing practices and marine conservation efforts.
